Fall is in the air and that means there are plenty of pumpkins available for carving and eating! Pumpkins are a great source of fiber and are wonderful for baking treats for your pup. Check out this recipe from AllRecipes.com for Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats!
INGREDIENTS:
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk together all ingredients in a large bowl.
Add water as needed to help make the dough workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff.
Roll the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick roll.
Cut into 1/2-inch pieces and bake in preheated oven until hard, approximately forty minutes depending on the oven.
Have a senior dog or a pup who needs a little extra fiber in their diet? Don’t skimp on the pumpkin! Use one full cup for extra nutrition. These treats are also small enough to use as training treats, and healthy too!
