There is currently a five dollar coupon available for Precious Cat cat litter that helps support the Cats Save Lives campaign for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Multiple myeloma is a cancer that develops in the plasma cells of bone marrow, and causes anemia and abnormal bleeding. Precious Cat has already donated $3.4 million to MMRF, and plans to give more as part of the “Take 5, Give 5″ challenge.
Kathy Elsey, wife of veterinarian Bruce Elsey and co-founder of Precious Cat, is currently a multiple myeloma patient. Here’s what the campaign has to say about Elsey’s battle:
The MMRF is proud to count the Elseys as major supporters. Kathy Elsey was diagnosed in January 2009 and underwent a stem cell transplant in June of that year. Like the MMRF’s Founder and CEO Kathy Giusti, she is relying on the transplant to hold her and hopeful that the next generation of therapies will be available when she needs them.
The Elseys are impressed by the MMRF’s aggressive approach and inspired by Kathy Giusti’s own personal story. As a fellow entrepreneur, Kathy Elsey understands the importance of strategy, discipline and a good business model and sees all of these qualities in the MMRF. “We are so fortunate to be able to give back and the way the MMRF is moving the science forward makes so much sense to us,” says Kathy.
